Svinafellsjokull glacier. Banded layers of sediment and ice in a glacier. This glacier is a an outlet (or tongue), glacier of the Vatnajokull ice cap. The debris in the glacier is derived from rock underlying the glacier which was eroded as the glacier moved (known as rock flour). Photographed in the Skaftafell National Park, Iceland.
