Hydroelectric generator for the Tungu-Kabiri micro-hydroelectric scheme on the slopes of Mt Kenya, Kenya. A dam has been built at the top of the Kabiri Falls, and some of the water has been diverted to this power plant. The water inlet pipe (centre left) is 30 centimtres in diameter. The water drives a turbine (left of worker) and the belt transfers power from the turbine to the electricity generator (centre right). The power plant produces 14 kilowatts of power. For the dam, see image T130/182. For uses of the electricity from the power plant, see images T807/073 and P980/096-097. Photographed in January 2006.
