Andromeda Galaxy (M31, NGC 224). Image of the spiral galaxy M31 as it might be seen through a simple pair of binoculars. This large galaxy, 150,000 light years across, is found in the constellation Andromeda. At around 2.5 million light years from Earth it is the closest major galaxy to the Milky Way and can be seen with the naked eye.
