Zodiacal man. 15th-century manuscript page showing a human figure labelled with the signs of the zodiac corresponding to parts of the body. This is an example of the medieval concept of man as a microcosm that reflected the larger macrocosm (universe). The artwork is labelled in Hebrew, dates from around 1450, and is from a manuscript held at the Bibliotheque nationale de France (BnF). It is thought to be based on works by the 11th-century Persian physician Avicenna.
