Timucua Indians in northeast Florida killing alligators. Alligators were a constant threat to the Indians who killed them by driving ten-foot poles down their throats and beating them with clubs. French artist Jacques Le Moyne created drawings of the lives of Timucuans while living in the Huguenot colony established in Florida in 1564.
