VENEZUELAN AMAZONAS. Serra Parima, Orinoco river basin. Yanomami homelands. The territory extends over 150,000 square kilometres of the Amazon, divided between Brazil and Venezuela It is one of the most inaccessible regions in the jungle. Of all the Amerindian tribes, the Yanomami have the least exposure to the modern world. Their future may now be threatened by diseases spread by illegal Brazilian gold miners.
