Mosque of al Hasan, by Unknown Artist, 1195 - 1196, 12th Century. Morocco, Rabat, Rabat, Mosque of al-Hasan. View of the unfinished minaret of the mosque of al Hasan, one of the most ambitious works ever undertaken throughout the Islamic world. The death of the client put an end to the building of the mosque shortly after the initial stages. Had the building of the structure been completed, the columns would have supported the mosque. On a second level, a lambrequin arch frames some mullioned windows with two and three lights on the last level, a sort of blind mullioned window with three lights is crowned by the outstanding Sebka pattern design of the upper body of the structure. 2009 photograph.
