William Fergusson (1808-1877) Scottish surgeon born at Prestonpans, East Lothian. Surgeon to the Edinburgh Royal Infirmary (1836). Moved to London in 1840 as professor of surgery at King's College, London, and surgeon to King's College Hospital. Practiced conservative surgery. President of the British Medical Association (1873).
