Brain scans during the use of a tactile vision substitution system (TVSS). Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) of the brain of a TVSS user. TVSS uses a camera affixed on a blind person's head to provide sensory stimulus of the world around them in the form of electric signals. These are passed onto a matrix which is then placed on the tongue or the back of the neck, allowing the blind person to 'see'. The areas being used by the brain are coloured orange.
