Photograph of the south east portion of the moon taken through a 30 cm telescope from Orange, California. The four dark patches in the upper part of the photo are lava-filled basins called maria: Mare Tranquillitatis at top left, Mare Crisium at top right, Mare Nectaris at bottom left and Mare Fecunditatis at bottom right. On the edge of the Mare Fecunditatis is the bright, rayed Langrenus crater. The prominent crater on the day- night boundary to the north west of the Mare Nectaris is Theophilus. See back of print 01 for technical details.
