The V-shaped pattern of stars in the Hyades cluster forms the head of the constellation Taurus. Aldebaran is a red giant star about 45 times wider than the Sun. It lies 68 light years away from Earth - less than half the distance to the centre of the Hyades cluster, which is 130 light years away.
