JQ1 drug. Molecular model of a the experimental drug JQ1. JQ1 is a thienotriazolodiazepine, structurally related to benzodiazepines. It belongs to a class of drugs known as BET inhibitors. BET inhibitors such as JQ1 are undergoing clinical trials for treating a variety of cancers including NUT midline carcinoma. JQ1 has also been investigated for its potential in the treatment of HIV (human immunodeficiency virus) infection, as a male contraceptive, and in the treatment of heart disease.
