Military helicopter drone. MQ-8C Fire Scout unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV, drone) taking off at a US naval base during its first day of flying. This is the US Navy's newest variant of the Fire Scout unmanned helicopter, which is designed to provide reconnaissance, situational awareness, aerial fire support and precision targeting support for ground, air and sea forces. During this day's flying it achieved two flights, reaching 500 feet altitude. The MQ-8C air vehicle upgrade will provide longer endurance, range and greater payload capability than the MQ-8B.
