Stans; Switzerland; statue of Christ Carrying the Cross in charnel house of the church of Sts. Peter and Paul. The charnel is in a building opposite the church; across a courtyard. It apparently once served as a funerary chapel; and lamps and carts that would be used for funeral services are still present. The statue is unusual both because it is full life-sized; and it depicts Christ carrying the cross; rather than the Crucifixion; which was more common in charnels.
