The 1964 Olympic Torch taken to Tokyo Here is the truck that will drive the Japanese through Asia to Singapore , seen outside the Old Parliment building in Athens , where the Olympic Committee are discussing the question whether Russia will permit the Olympic Torch bearer to cross Tashkent on hi way to the 1964 Olympic Games in Tokyo . For this a group of Japanese athletes and scientists arrived in Greece and will attempt a drive through the same route that the relay runners of the sacred flame will take in 1964 . During the Olympic Committeee Congress that is currently being held here , this subject has been discussed and the Russian representative promised to take the matter up with the Soviet authorities The Japanese pathfinders posing with their truck are , (Left to Right ) K .
