Green-striped vine snake, Philodryas argenteus, Loreto, Peru. Sometimes placed in genus Xenoxybelis or Oxybelis, it is a very slender, arboreal snake that feeds on frogs and lizards. It can reach a length of 4'. When startled it freezes in position and rigidly extends its tongue that is patterned similarly to the head, depending on its exceptional camouflage to avoid detection.
