Basilisk lizard (Basiliscus plumifrons) in Tortuguero National Park, Costa Rica. These lizards are native to Latin America from Mexico to Ecuador. They lizards are notable for their ability to escape predators by running on the surface of water. Due to this ability they are sometimes called Jesus or Jesus Christ lizards. This is a captive animal.
