Spiral cloud formations known as Von Karman vortices form behind St. Helena Island as it disrupts the clouds in the South Atlantic. Diana's Peak, the highest point on the island, rises 820 meters (2,685 feet) above sea level. Southwest of the island are rippling gravity wave clouds. The Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) instrument on NASA's Terra satellite captured this image on November 10, 2015.
