Franco Petri Burgersdijk or franciscus Burgersdicius (May 3, 1590 - February 19, 1635) was a Dutch philosopher and logician. He was a student of Jacchaeus (Gilbert Jack). Burgersdijk finished his studies at the University of Leiden in 1610. He left to further study theology at the University of Saumur, where he became professor of philosophy in 1614. He was appointed Professor of philosophy, logic, and ethics at the University of Leiden in 1620 by the orthodox party, represented by the house of Orange (and orthodox Calvinism), who were trying to consolidate power in their political-religious struggle with the oligarchy of Holland (and Arminianism). Her wrote compendia for scholastic philosophy that were widely used throughout Protestant Europe. He died in1635 at the age of 44.
