These two images show improvements in plastic surgery, c. 1920s. On the left is a prominent scar from a cheek lift. On the right is a cheek lift in which the surgeon made an incision behind the ear, leaving no scar. The person who revised this technique was German plastic surgeon Jacques Joseph (1865-1934).
