California Barrel Cactus (Ferocactus cylindraceus var. lecontei). Formerly known as Ferocactus acanthodes. A conspicuous barrrel cactus found from extreme sw UT, s NV, AZ, CA south into Mexico. These plants were photographed in northern Joshua Tree National Park, California. The town of 29 Palms can be seen in the distance.
