Andromeda Galaxy, M31. Andromeda is the nearest major galaxy to our own Milky Way Galaxy. Our Galaxy is thought to resemble Andromeda. The light from Andromeda's billions of stars takes 2 million years to reach us. Much about this galaxy remains unknown, including why the center contains two nuclei.
