Global mosaic of the Cerberus hemisphere of Mars composed of 104 Viking 1 Orbiter images taken on orbit 1323, February 11, 1980. The images are projected into point perspective, representing what a viewer would see from a spacecraft at an altitude of 2,000 km. It was early northern summer when this image was taken, some thin white clouds can be seen over the northern hemisphere. The large dark area to the left is Cerberus, roughly 500 km from top to bottom at its center. North of Cerberus is the Elysium volcanic construct, which shows up as bright yellow. The volcanoes Albor Tholus is south of Elysium and Hecates Tholus is to the upper right. Just to the right of center is the crater Tettit, with a long dark tail extending to the southwest. North is up, the equator runs along the bottom third of the disk.
