England - Aerial view of linear storm beach of shingle, stretching 29 kilometres from Bridport to the Isle of Portland. Chesil Beach, Dorset. Part of the Jurassic Coast World Heritage Site. The barrier beach is made up of cobbles, pebbles and shingle in flint, chert, limestone, quartzite and some porphyry and tourmaline.The beach protects the Fleet, which is the largest tidal lagoon in the UK. This rich wildlife reserve supports freshwater, saltwater and brackish water species.
