The whole business of Constantinople has historically been linked to the Bosphorus that divides the European side of the city from the Asian side of the city. The traditional way of crossing has been by ferry since earliest times. These steam ferries date from Victorian times and are responsible even to this day for transporting the majority of the workforce from one side of the city to the other. This boat is the Goztepe, which was built in Dunkirk, France - taken out of service and put up for sale in 1984.
