Empress Alexandra Feodorovna of Russia (1872-1918), formerly Princess Alix of Hesse, married Tsar Nicholas II in 1894 shortly before his accession to the throne. She was murdered by Bolsheviks at Ekaterinburg on 17th July 1918.
