A medal presented to Thomas Henry Ismay to mark the launch of the RMS Oceanic on 14 January 1899. The ornate gilt design includes the British and American flags. The presentation box is from RC Oldfield jewellers of Church Street, Liverpool. Ismay was a respected shipbuilder, and Chairman of the White Star Line. He died later the same year.
