Police Constable Henry William Stephens(b.1928), George Cross winner, aged 28. He won the award in trying to arrest a gun man in Bromley, Kent. The gunman shot P.C Stephens in the mouth during an incident in March 1957, but despite this injury P.C Stevens followed the gunman 40 yards and tackled him.
