Welsh miners wives hold up their banner on a demonstration during the national miners strike of 1984 - 85. The banner reads, 'Maesteg & Afan Valley Miners women support group' and also includes caricatures of Arthur Scargill (National Union of Mineworkers President), Margaret Thatcher (Prime Minister) and Ian McGregor (head of the National Coal Board), the latter being described as Thatcher's 'hatchet man'.
