American Football Team Photo - training in Britain! The side from the Flagship of the American Fleet ("champions of the 1st Division") the USS Connecticut (flagship from 1907 to 1912). The Connecticut reached Portsmouth around 15th November 1910 and records state that the team were due to play USS "Idaho" at Crystal Palace on 3rd December. This could (possibly!) be the first photo of an American Football team in this country albeit in relaxed mode during a training session, at Portland Dorset - the building is the Royal Navy Fleet Canteen, which the American Fleet were given the privilege of using and stayed at the sailor's home in Weymouth.
