Tatar Sabantuy celebration at Belebey - a town in the Republic of Bashkortostan, Russia. Sabantuy is a Tatar and Idel-Uralian summer festival, dating back to the Volga Bulgarian epoch. Initially, Sabantuy was a festival of farmers in rural areas, but it later became a national holiday and now is widely celebrated in major cities. This postcard clearly shows its earlier incarnation!
