His coat is decorated with fleurs-de-lis, as is a robe(?) on the table opposite him, and he wears a Louis d'Or medal. Through the window behind him is a view of Emser Bad and hanging on the wall is a picture of tents and a battle scene that is titled Louis Dort which may be a play on the words d'Or and dort.
