Winifred Holt (1870-1945), American sculptor and welfare worker for the blind, pictured at her home in Paris with two guests, both French soldiers blinded in the war. One, an architect, is pictured with a little house he had modelled (la "Gardienne du Phare") and the other, a young sergeant-major decorated with the Croix de Guerre with two palsm and the Medaille Militaire has modelled a bowl. Miss Holt, the daughter of the publisher Henry Holt, was the author of "A Beacon for the Blind", the life story of Henry Fawcett, the blind postmaster-general.
