Black and white. The Moharum ( or Muharram) festival commemorates the death of Muhammad's grandson, Imam Hussein ibn Ali, who was killed at the battle of Karbala. The image shows a large procession of people in the street, on balconies and even on the roofs of buildings. Many are holding up umbrellas. There is a very tall and ornate replica of the mausoleum of Imam Hussein being paraded through the crowd.. Part of India Box, Boswell Collection. Slide number 205 and 16.
