Photograph shows Millicent Garrett Fawcett ahead of a banner proclaiming 'Woman Citizens' Mrs. Fawcett, President of the National Union of Women's Suffrage Societies, advocated the constitutional non-militant approach to gaining the vote. In March 1917, a 90 strong suffrage deputation to Lloyd George was received. In May the representation of the People Bill was passed without division, becoming law in 1918.
