Victorian sword with a gilt pommel in the shape of a horse's head and quillons with terminals in the form of animal heads. The blade is decorated with the royal arms with supporters on a scroll bearing the motto: 'Dieu et mon droit'. The name 'Count Edward Gleichen', and Queen Victoria's royal cypher: 'VR' surmounted by a crown are also present. Count Edward Gleichen (1863-1937) was half-nephew and Page of Honour to Queen Victoria. The sword was later worn at the coronation of Queen Elizabeth II in 1953 and was used by the Page of Honour to King George VI
