Folded paper pouch containing a lock of hair belonging to Prince Edward (1760-1820), son of King George III. This lock of hair comes from a collection of items put together by George III and Queen Charlotte in the 1760s, including hair samples from their five eldest children. These parcels of hair represent the sentimental side of George and Charlotte and their strong family values. It was also a well-known superstition that keeping a lock of hair from a babys first haircut should be held for good luck
