Napoleon presents a list of outrageous peace terms to King George III, who defiantly rejects them. Prime Minister George Grenville's new Ministry are the orchestra rehearsing in the foreground. Charles James Fox became Foreign Secretary in Grenville's Ministry after William Pitt's death in January 1806. He began peace negotiations with France after Britain had suffered crippling defeats at the hands of Napoleon's army. Gillray paints Fox as a Jacobin traitor aiding French interests
