Big Ben clock tower, London, UK, at dusk with the crescent Moon at top right. This 96-metre-tall clock tower, part of the Palace of Westminster, houses the bell named 'Big Ben'. Built from 1843 to a design by Augustus Pugin in the Gothic Revival style, the tower was opened in 1859. It was renamed the Elizabeth Tower in 2012 to mark the Diamond Jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II. The Palace of Westminster was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1987. Photographed in 2001.
