Greenland glacier growth from 2016 to 2019. From top to bottom, these aerial radar altimeter images shown the growth of the Jakobshavn Glacier in the Arctic, in western Greenland. The dates are 2016-7 (top), 2017-8 (middle), and 2018-19 (bottom). The height changes are colour-coded, with blue showing an increase in height and orange a decrease (blue indicates an increase in the amount of glacier ice present). This growth is thought to be due to cool ocean waters triggered by a climate change phenomenon known as the North Atlantic Oscillation. This images were obtained by the Oceans Melting Greenland (OMG) mission.
