Parachute test for Starliner spacecraft, June 2019. Boeing's CST-100 Starliner's parachute system being tested above the US Army's Yuma Proving Ground in Arizona, USA. This test involved dropping a dart-shaped device, functioning as a Starliner weight simulant, from a C-17 aircraft. The parachutes were intentionally inflated at higher pressures than expected during missions. The data gathered from this parachute test will help validate the system, which will be used to carry astronauts to and from the International Space Station (ISS) as part of NASA's Commercial Crew Program. The first uncrewed test flight (CST-100) launched on 20 December 2019. Photographed on 26 June 2019.
