Known as the Wuhan coronavirus (after the city where it was first identified), this novel coronavirus (2019-nCoV) causes a respiratory infection that can lead to fatal pneumonia. As of January 2020, thousands in China have been infected with over 100 deaths, leading to travel restrictions and cancellation of public holidays to prevent the spread of the virus. It is thought that the virus transmission to humans may have occurred from live food markets.
