Fossil branch of Zamites feneonis from Middle Jurassic (Kimmeridgian) sediments near Ain, France. Zamites is a genus of trees known from Mesozoic up to Eocene deposits in North America, Europe and India. Zamites is now extinct, but the leaves closely resemble the now living cycad Zamia. Actual size of branch is 21 cm bottom to top.
