People waiting in their cars at a Gleaners Food Bank distribution site, Detroit, Michigan, USA, during the 2019-20 outbreak of the new coronavirus SARS-CoV-2. The need for food has increased dramatically in Detroit during the outbreak. At this site, food ran out while many were still waiting, and a police officer drove down the line of cars passing the message on her loudspeaker. SARS-CoV-2 causes a respiratory infection (Covid-19) that can lead to fatal pneumonia. As of the end of March 2020, over 750,000 have been infected worldwide with over 36,000 deaths. Social restrictions and infection control measures have been put in place to slow the spread of the virus. Photographed on 30 March 2020.
