X-ray of the left foot of a 67 year old male patient with diabetes who has had part of his forefoot amputated due to circulatory problems. Diabetics often develop ulcers on the feet due to inadequate blood supply or neuropathy (nerve damage) caused by the disease. In severe cases, the ulcers can become gangrenous necessitating removal of the affected region.
