Britain rationed some foods and examples of these amounts per week for an adult included 100 grams of bacon or ham, 50 grams of cheese, a single egg ( although there was an allowance of dried egg every month ), 225 grams of sugar, 100 grams of margarine, and 50 grams of tea. Foods such as potatoes, fruit and fish were not rationed but could be in short supply and expensive. Although the war ended in 1945 rationing continued until 1954. Despite rationing the health of people was quite high without obesity and other diseases suffered with a modern diet.
