Zamites is a now extinct, cycadeoid (cycad like) plant of the order Bennettitales that first appeared in the Triassic period and became extinct toward the end of the Cretaceous. Thick trunks characterized them, with pinnate leaves giving off from side branches at a wide angle, alternate and not contiguous. These fossil leaves are of the species Zamites feneonis and were found in upper Jurassic (Kimmeridgian) sediments in the Lin department of eastern France. Actual width of sample is 240 mm.
