Map of Taiwan and the coastal province of Chekiang in China, 17th century. The name of 'Formosa' is used here for Taiwan. The province of Chekiang is also known as Zhejiang. The scale at lower left is in English leagues. This map is from 'A description of the sea coasts [...] in the East Indies' (c.1690) by cartographer William Hacke. This 'buccanneer atlas' was produced by Hacke in association with notorious pirate Captain Bartholomew Sharpe following his various expeditions to the South Seas. It includes navigational distances and sounding information.
