Immunofluorescent micrograph of Merkel cell carcinoma (MCC). MCC is a rare and aggressive type of skin cancer occurring in hair follicles. This neuroendocrine tumour is caused by Merkel cell polyomavirus. CD200 (green), a membrane glycoprotein involved in immunosupression, is expressed on the surface of tumour cells. Blood vessels are highlighted using endothelial marker CD31 (red).
