Burning bush, abstract image. The ?榖ush??in this image is composed of microscopic flower hairs from the yellow kangaroo paw (Anigozanthos flavidus), which is native to Southwest Australia. The flowers of this plant are covered in velvety hairs, which may cause irritation to skin and eyes. The ?榝lames??are produced from a polarized light image of crystals of cinchonidine from the bark of the Cinchona tree, also known as the fever tree. Cinconidine belongs to the quinine group of alkaloids which are used in the treatment of malaria. The Australian plant and the South American Cinchona tree are relevant to the bushfires resulting from global warming and also relate to the biblical story of Moses and the burning bush.
